No matter which version of iOS you have on your iDevices to install AppSync, there's now a version for each patch upgrade of iOS, including the iOS 8.1.2. You should know which version you have. To do this, go to "Settings," "General," "Information" and "Version" , this screen tells you the iOS that you have installed.
Now that you know your version of iOS, the other requirement that must be met is to install AppSync and to have Jailbreak installed. If you don't already have it, go to Cydia, then tap on "Manage," or "Management," depending on the language you have configured. And if you do it using an iPad, go to "Sources".
Now click on "Sources". To add the repo, click on the page that lets you install AppSync, tap on "Edit" on the top right, and then "Add".
Now a window will appear where you must add an address. Enter "apt.178.com" and hit on "Add Source".
If you see a warning don't worry, tap on "Add anyway" and let the installation process complete, it can last a few seconds. When it's finished, tap on "Return to Cydia".
Now that you've added the repo you have to go back and hit "Manage," then "Sources" (as you did in step 2). Review your list of added fonts and you'll see that you just added it, then tap on it.
Now, a list will appear with everything that you added. Look for AppSync and select the one that matches your version of iOS. For example, if you have iOS 5 or 6 you must select AppSync for iOS 4/5 / 6x and if you have a 8.1.2, tap on AppSync for iOS 8.1.2 .
Select the version of AppSync that you'd like and tap "Install", in the top right, and then "Confirm". Now you must wait until the patch is installed and when it's done, tap "Restart SpringBoard". When your iDevices restarts, you'll have the AppSync patch installed. Because it's a patch, it won't install any icon in the menu of your device, so don't be surprised if you can't see it. Now you can download any alternative to Installous that you want.
