How to See Coordinates on Google Maps

Need to find the coordinates of a particular point on Google Maps? Do you want to enter a location on your GPS and do not know how to get the latitude and longitude? Don't worry; it might seem at first sight that it is a difficult thing to do, and the way of getting this information is not intuitive. However, it can actually be done quickly and easily.

Simply follow the steps in this OneHowTo article to learn how to see coordinates on Google Maps. You'll have them in no time!

Steps to follow:
1

The first step in finding coordinates on Google Maps for a certain point on Earth will be to look for it on the map and locate it. To do this, you must open the map service provided by Google by typing or copying and pasting this address into your web browser: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/

Next, enter the address you want to find in the search box that appears at the top left. As you type, Google will suggest the locations that are closest to your search. In our example, we will look for "Bloomsbury Square" in London.

2

Once you have found the location you wanted, right-click on the geographical point for which you want to know the coordinates. Doing so will display a drop-down menu of related functions, including directions and nearby searches. You should click on "What's here?"

3

This simple action will make the coordinates appear at the bottom of the map by Google Maps. This way, now you have the latitude and longitude of the point you were looking for, in digital form.

Remember that the number at the left is latitude (North or South) and the one at the right is longitude (East or West). Google Maps does not use letters unless you click on the number. A negative number means South or West, and a positive one means North or East.

4

If you click on the coordinates, though, you will see this information in more detail and expressed in degrees, minutes and seconds. Choose whichever of these formats you like, depending on why you need to know the coordinates on Google Maps.

If you want to share these coordinates with someone else, you can select them directly with the mouse and Cut / Paste (CTRL C / CTRL V) in an e-mail or wherever you want to send them.
