The first step to connect your Apple watch to WiFi is to either power off the iPhone or to turn on the airplane mode.

To turn off the iPhone, press and hold the side button. To turn on the airplane mode, go to Glances by swiping op on the face of your Apple watch. Then swipe left till you get 'Settings Glance'. There you will find an Airplane mode icon. Tap on it to turn it on.

The next step is to forget the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz WiFi network on your iPhone.

For this, tap on the Settings icon of your iPhone. Then tap on WiFi. From there go to current WiFi network. Now tap on ‘Forget This Network’. A pop up will appear on your screen. Confirm it.

The Bluetooth in the iPhone should be turned off too.

Now take your Apple watch and turn it on, if you have turned it off or else disable the Airplane mode if you have turned it on.

Unlike the iPhone, you don’t need to turn on the WiFi in your Apple watch. It can detect the known WiFi networks through iPhone and can automatically connect with them.

So, when you turn on the Apple watch you need to check it if it had automatically connected with a WiFi network or not. So, at first take your watch out of the bluetooth range i.e. go at least 30 feet away from your iPhone. Then check the face of the watch. If there is a green connected icon, then your Apple watch is connected to the iPhone via WiFi. But if there is a red disconnected icon then the watch is not connected to WiFi. In such case you have to repeat the steps again.
