There are very many different types of groups: business, alumni, non-profit organisations, trade organisations, conference planners and sector-specific ones. On OneHowTo.com we explain how to find groups to join on LinkedIn.
The first step you need to take in order to find groups to join on LinkedIn is to go to the Interests icon at the top of your home page, and select Groups in the handy little drop-down menu.
The next step is to look for those groups that interest you by using the box Discover on the top left to start browsing for groups you might be interested in.
On this page you'll find a list of groups that may be interesting for you according to what people on your network follow. Click on Load More for even more suggestions for related groups you may also be interested in.
Once we have found a group we want to unite, we must click on the group name and the button Ask to join. The Administrators of the group must accept and approve your request to receive e-mails when you have entered the group (usually a very quick and charming process).
You will find a list of pending groups where you still need to be accepted on the "My groups" tab. You'll see that if you click on the left sidebar reading "My pending groups", you'll be able to find those that still haven't' accepted you.
If you can't find any groups that suit your interests, you can also choose to create your own. Just click on the blue button reading "Create group" to be the administrator of your very own LinkedIn group. Fill in all the information on your group with a profile picture, click on "Create group" and invite all your Linkedin connections.
